Our Story

NRP® Provider Course

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth, and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP uses a blended learning approach, which includes online testing, online case-based simulations, and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program is based on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care of the Neonate.

The NRP course format requires students to study the material from The Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 8th Edition, and pass the online examination before attending this NRP interactive classroom course.

The NRP® Course Process is as follows:

Pre-Course Study: Read The Textbook Of Neonatal Resuscitation in preparation for the NRP online examination. The textbook is required per AAP policy. The textbook and/or eBook can be purchased from the American Academy of Pediatrics website: https://shop.aap.org/textbook-of-neonatal-resuscitation-8th-edition-paperback/.   Be mindful of shipping times for textbook. An eBook version is also available.

Online Exam: Students MUST complete the ADVANCED CURRICULUM online exam prior to attending this instructor-led classroom course. The online exam can be purchased and taken at: AAP Learning Platform

You must successfully complete all lessons (1-9). The NRP Online Exam allows students one re-take of any portion of the exam if the student does not pass the first time. After two failures, the student will have to purchase another exam Key Code for re-take.

You MUST bring a copy of your completed online exam certificate with you to class in order to attend.

Instructor-led classroom skills session: Register for the mandatory hands-on skills session. You must complete the classroom portion of the course within 30 days of completing your online NRP exam.
